Lower Sycolin Sewage Project - Leesburg, VA

Published by Hank Gottschalk

When constructing the Lower Sycolin Sewage Project in Leesburg, Allen Meyers Construction installed several sanitary sewer manholes completely lined with AGRU and fabricated with PREDL FRP Base Liners. Extreme site conditions included installing a sanitary sewer pipe 20 to 25 feet deep, with a high ground water table, limited access, all within feet of a pristine creek that ultimately drained into the Potomac River basin.
PREDL Base Liners with integrated gasket bells were chosen to form the invert channel shaping and pipe connections. AGRU HDPE concrete protective liner was cast in, forming the interior manhole surfaces. CP&P’s certified field crew welded all of the joints and seams after installation to create a continuous projective system against Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC.)
The PREDL System FRP Base Liner is a custom fabricated invert shaping that becomes cast into a concrete base section. Various pipe sizes, angles and configurations are available as each base liner is fabricated for each specific structure and application. AGRU protective liner is available for a variety of precast concrete structures and concrete pipes. AGRU is cast into the concrete during production and is highly resistant to pull out. These systems can be used together to create a completely sealed and protected manhole that will last more than a lifetime.
