Charleston & Summerville Combined Plant Tour

Published by Hank Gottschalk

CP&P welcomed members from Thomas and Hutton, Mattern and Craig, and MRB Group for a combined Charleston Pipe and Summerville Precast Tour on July 20. The tour group convened in the Charleston plant break room for introductions and a safety orientation. Mike Johnson, Billy Norris and Ryan Kistler provided an overview of what the guests would expect to see at the respective plants. The group had many questions before starting into the plant! Kudos to Billy Norris who still made time to guide the group while running the Charleston plant a couple of people down!

Throughout the tour, the group had more than the usual number of questions. Ken Nagel with Thomas and Hutton brought some younger engineering staff, and at one point was heard telling them “now when you see that little circle on the plans, you can visualize the actual piece of pipe it represents.”

At the Summerville precast plant, Tim Roland of T&H was introduced to CP&P’s Shaun Nailing as Tim had several questions about interpretation of CP&P’s shop drawings. Tim was not only able to leave with his questions answered, but now has a direct contact at CP&P should additional questions arise.

Plant tours such as this accomplish much more than just showing off CP&P’s superior pipe and precast products. They help establish and strengthen the relationships built between our team and the designers, owners, contractors and inspectors that ultimately choose and use our products and services.
