Creighton Road Improvements – Sandy Lane to Laburnum Avenue project is underway in Henrico County, VA. The project will realign the existing roadway to include a 0.4 mile 4-lane divided roadway with sidewalks on both sides of the road along with curb and gutter and storm sewer improvements.

Part of the project consisted of a 10X4 single – 6 cell box culvert. Each of the 6 cells are 107 Linear Feet long with 27 degree skewed end sections. Hanover produced and shipped 96 drycast boxes for the run, while Salem produced the 12 skewed end pieces and end treatments.

Abernathy Construction Corporation is installing the precast box culverts. L.S. Abernathy Construction was founded in 1949 by Lloyd Abernathy, who decided to leave the family farm in Brunswick County, Virginia, and venture into bridge construction. Bobby Abernathy, Lloyd’s oldest son, reorganized and incorporated the family business in 1971 as Abernathy Construction Corporation. Today, Bobby and his sons continue the family tradition of being dedicated to maintaining high standards of business and growing along with the communities the company does business in.

The project has an Estimated Cost of $17.89 million with a completion date of March 2025.
